Rick C. Wade to speak at the 55 th Anniversary of the Columbia Urban League

[Columbia, SC] The Columbia Urban League, Inc., has announced Rick C. Wade will be the keynote speaker at the 55 th Anniversary Annual Fund Campaign and Equal Opportunity Day Dinner on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Wade, who is the Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Outreach at the United States Chamber of Commerce, plays a strategic role with the chamber in “Promoting Minority Economic Development through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunity,” which is this year’s theme, said James T. McLawhorn, Jr., president and CEO of the Columbia Urban League “Economic development is the foundation for healthy communities,” McLawhorn said. “To achieve this objective, we need a renewed dedication from lenders in providing financing to minority businesses along with an increased commitment from large companies in partnering with minority businesses.”

Additionally, the event will honor some of Columbia’s strongest advocates and trailblazing community members for their work around diversity, equity, inclusion, and equal opportunity.

The in-person event starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Guests include honorees, sponsors, members of the Columbia Urban League’s Board of Directors, and members of the community.
