Since 1984, the Columbia Urban League has offered meaningful summer work experience for youth between the ages of 14 and 17.  

Through hands-on learning and real-world exposure, participants explore career paths that lead to stable, well-paying jobs.

P2CO is built on the belief that early employment opportunities help young people grow into confident, contributing members of society.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Experience the Real World: Gain exposure through career shadowing and real-life work environments.
  • Grow with a Mentor: Learn professional etiquette and strong work ethics from experienced professionals.
  • Build Confidence: Thrive in a structured, supportive setting that helps boost self-esteem and personal growth.
  • Expand Your Network: Connect with professionals across industries and explore diverse career paths.

PROGRAM ORGANIZATION

P2CO is a two-week summer job program that aims to expose participants to useful job skills.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD KNOW:

  • Participants must participate in the mandatory orientation dressed in professional business attire (parents/guardians must also attend).
  • Participants will work a total of 40 hours (20 hours each week for a 2-week period).
  • Participants earn a $300 stipend upon completion of their worksite assignment and required documentation.

*Although we desire to serve all eligible applicants, the number is students served by this program is contingent upon the amount of funding we receive.
